Yummy Eggs from Happy Chickens

All farm store eggs come from happy, healthy, pastured chickens with no fences and safe portable sleeping trailers to protect them from predators overnight. From sunrise to sunset, they roam as far as they like, feasting on all that thrives in GreenString fields, supplemented by certified organic feed available inside their trailers. One of the responsibilities interns have is to feed, clean and care for our chickens everyday, rain or shine. We also have our own, very dedicated chicken lady named Hylla who comes daily to harvest the eggs, and make sure the chickens are as happy as can be.

The chickens are fed a diet rich in plant life as well as grain. The result of this is amazingly fresh and delicious eggs that sometimes have an orangish tint due to the beta carotene in the vegetables they are fed. According to Michael Pollan's latest book In Defense of Food, chickens that eat a plants and bugs lay eggs that have more vitamins, antioxidants, and a higher percentage of healthy fats. "For though from the outside an industrial egg looks exactly like a pastured egg selling for several times as much, they are for all intents and purposes two completely different foods."
